Meyers, Noel

Noel “Leonard” Meyers, 82, of Festus died Jan. 4, 2021, at his home. Mr. Meyers was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he attained the rank of staff sergeant. He was a patriot and conservationist who enjoyed reading conservation books to his grandchildren, teaching his grandchildren about nature and history, playing practical jokes on his children, and spending time with family. Born Feb. 9, 1938, in De Soto, he was the son of the late Noel A. and Gladys (McGee) Meyers.

He is survived by his wife: Judith (Burchett) Meyers; three daughters: Kelly (Marc) Jefferson of Kirksville, Jill (David) Knight of Webster Groves and Jennifer (Paul) Laiben of Herculaneum; a son: Matthew (Sean Doherty) Meyers of St. Louis; a brother: Patrick Meyers of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; eight grandchildren: Casey (Zack) Coy, Alyssa (Shawn) Knight-Slinkard, Brandon Laiben, Spencer Laiben, Riley (Noah Babiak) Jefferson, Lucas Laiben, Jonathon “Jack” Meyers and Maxwell Knight; three great-grandchildren: Kassie Jefferson, Sawyer Coy and Pollie Coy; numerous other family members and friends; and his beloved dog, Scamp.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Ronald (Dorothy survives of Festus) Meyers and David (Joan survives of Brandon, Fla.) Meyers.

Burial with full military honors will take place in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, 63132-3214. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
