McClanahan, Michael

Michael Ray McClanahan, 75, of Festus died Feb. 26, 2023, at his home. Mr. McClanahan had worked for many years constructing communication infrastructures for many large businesses in the Midwest region. He also worked as clubroom manager for Knights of Columbus Council 1230 and housekeeping supervisor for Crystal Oaks Nursing Center. He was a 1965 graduate of St. Pius X High School and a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1230 and a life member of VFW Post 3777. He enjoyed fishing, football, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was born May 14, 1947, in St. Louis, the son of the late Norene (Batteral) and Walter McClanahan.

He is survived by his wife: Marie “Angie” (Hewitt) AuBuchon-McClanahan; a son: P. Sean (Angela) McClanahan of Manchester; a daughter: Cara (Chris) Kirby-House of De Soto; a stepson: Bryce (Megan) AuBuchon of Fredericktown; three sisters: Carol (the late Jim) Eisenbeis, Rose (Bob) Propst and Brenda (the late Jack) Pratt, all of Festus; 10 grandchildren: Tyler (Emily) McClanahan, Tori (Dan) Barton, Caitlyn (Alex) Sextro, Anna Chickey, Jack Michael McClanahan, Phoenix AuBuchon, Remedy AuBuchon, Brendan Kirby, Brooke Kirby and Blake House; and five great-grandchildren: Zelie, Zion, Peyton, Teegan and Riggins. He was preceded in death by a brother: Darryl (Jackie survives of St. Louis) McClanahan.

A graveside memorial service with full military honors will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, in Charter Memorial Gardens of De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Kayla Roe,. A celebration of life will follow from noon to 4 p.m. at VFW Post 3777, 900 VFW Drive, in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to VFW Post 3777 or to Plattin United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
