Warren, Mary Lou

Mary Lou J. Warren, 83, of Valles Mines died March 16, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Warren was a strong and independent woman with a heart of gold and cared deeply for her animals. She was an amazing cook, making the best hot fudge and sloppy joes, and enjoyed scrapbooking and gardening. She taught her nieces how to haggle, frequently shopping for garage sale and flea market finds. Although she had no children of her own, she served as a mother figure to many. Born Aug. 5, 1937, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Herbert McClary and Margaret Fetter (Stillwell). She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas E. Warren, whom she married in 1955.

She is survived by a sister: Patricia Branson; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; along with numerous extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Willis McClary; and a sister: Ida “Bunnie” Mehrtens,

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 25, at the funeral home. Burial is in the Peaceful Meadows Cemetery in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or to Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
