Bauman, marguerite

Marguerite Lucille “Babe” Bauman, 86, of Festus died Oct. 30, 2015, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center. Mrs. Bauman was co-owner and operator of Bauman Bakery for 25 years, and after retiring the family bakery she worked at the Walmart bakery for 12 years. She was a founding member of Our Lady Church in Festus, where she was active with the quilting group. Born Aug. 3, 1929, in Ste. Genevieve, she was the daughter of the late Marguerite (Wilhelm) and Augusta Wehner.

She is survived by her husband: Wilfred “Fred” Bauman; four sons: Francis (Fawn) Bauman of Festus, Mike (Kristin) Bauman of Battle Creek, Mich., James “Jim” Bauman of Festus and Edward Bauman of Festus; a son-in-law: Milton Hightower of Hillsboro; two sisters-in-law: Jean Wehner of California and Jean Wehner of Lebanon; five grandchildren: Joshua (Annette) Bauman, Jennifer Bauman, Mitch (Kate) Bauman, Nicholas Bauman and Margaret Bauman; and one great-grandson: Jackson Bauman.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Carolyn Ann Hightower; five brothers: Augusta (the late Katherine) Wehner, Gilbert Wehner, William “Willy” (the late Betty) Wehner, Joseph Wehner and Lawrence (the late Theola “Tootie”) Wehner; a grandson: Elijah J. Bauman; and a great-grandson: Kade Bauman.

Funeral Mass was held Nov. 3 at Our Lady Church in Festus, officiated by Father Jeffrey Maassen. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Kade’s Playground. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
