Leo Eugene Matthews, 88, of Herculaneum died Oct. 14, 2020, at his home. Mr. Matthews was an electrical technician for Western Union. He served in the U.S. Air Force and attended One Assembly of Herculaneum. He enjoyed sports, coaching softball and basketball, and corresponding with friends on the computer. Born May 8, 1932, in Parma, he was the son of the late Ethel (Strong) and Herman Matthews.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Lyla Faye (Baker) Matthews.
He is survived by a son: Tim (Renee) Matthews of Herculaneum; a daughter: Denise (Jay Stubblefield) Risenhoover of Laddonia; a stepson: Carl Bibbs of Florida; four stepdaughters: Faith Welch of St Louis, Lisa Bibbs of Arizona, Bell Nelson of Arizona and Linda Valerie of Texas; four grandchildren: Brandy Gay, Zachery Stubblefield and Rusty and Jarrett Risenhoover; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: William and Robert Matthews; and two sisters: Daisy Tilley and Linda White.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Bradshaw Funeral Home, 1005 S. Madison St., in Malden, followed immediately by funeral services. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home, Festus.
