William Dean Cagle Jr., 43, of Festus has been accused of breaking into the home of a woman he previously had a relationship with and refusing to leave. He also allegedly drank beer and ate food after breaking into the home, according to court documents.
Cagle was arrested on Feb. 3 and was being held on a $10,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, jail records show.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on Jan. 9 charged Cagle with second-degree felony burglary, court records said.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, the woman called the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office after Cagle allegedly broke into her home multiple times on Oct. 4. She told the deputy she had ended her relationship with Cagle in December 2024.
The woman said Cagle was in her home drinking beer and initially refused to leave that morning. However, he eventually left, the report said.
Cagle allegedly returned later that day while the woman was not home and broke a window to get inside. The woman said when she returned home, he was eating her food, according to the report.
The woman said Cagle left again after the two argued, but he returned to the home again. The woman said he broke more of the previously damaged window to get inside and refused to leave unless the police were called, the report said.
