Karen Jo Thornton, 59, of High Ridge died Sept. 2, 2018, in High Ridge. Mrs. Thornton enjoyed helping and taking care of others. She had a strong devotion to God and was a member of the Church of Christ. In her spare time she enjoyed music, dancing, swimming, traveling and most of all, spending time with her children.

Born Aug. 6, 1959, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Thelma (Chastain) Parton and the late John Parton.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three children: Steven (Susan) Thornton, Crystal D. Rucker and Billy L. Compton; four grandchildren; six siblings: Shirley (Bill) Alexander, Sharon (Richard) Lewis, Diana (Jerry) Hager, Tommy (Paula) Parton, Jacqueline Messmer and John “Paul” (Jessica) Parton; one sister-in-law: Patti Parton; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by one brother: Jack Parton; and one sister: Norma Parton.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral services at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Burial will be at 2:45 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill if weather permits. In case of inclement weather, burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at the cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
