John R. Burgan Sr., 70, of Bloomsdale, died Sept. 28, 2017, at his home. Mr. Burgan was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and a member of UAW Local 110. He enjoyed dove hunting and fishing. Born Sept. 20, 1947, in Festus, he was the son of the late Albert N. Burgan and Dorothy M. (Martin) Burgan.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Ramona "Monie" (McMurty) Burgan of Bloomsdale; one son: Michael (Annette) Burgan of Park Hills; one daughter: Amy (Kyle) Moon of Ste. Genevieve; one brother: Paul Burgan of Festus; one daughter-in-law: Debbie "Cat" Burgan-Kays of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren: Jacob, Silas, Scarlett, and Elijah; two dear friends: Ronnie and Linda Politte of Festus; and six sisters-in-law: Janet Hughey, Debbie Hibdon, Vonda Rayoum, Pam (Skeeter) Schwent, Kat McMurty and Lisa (Scott) Beck.
He was preceded in death by one son: John R. Burgan Jr.; and one sister-in-law: Phyllis Bisbis.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 at Basler Funeral Home, 685 Center Drive, Ste. Genevieve. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until time of service at noon on Monday, Oct. 2 at the funeral home, the Rev. Danny Loesch officiating. Burial with military honors by VFW Post 2210 will be at Crestlawn Cemetery, Ste. Genevieve. Memorials may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital Oncology Department. Arrangements are under the direction of Basler Funeral Home.
