John J. “John Boy” Johnston, 64, of De Soto died Aug. 13, 2021, at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton. Mr. Johnston was an ordained minister and a general contractor for more than 30 years and was a Jefferson County code enforcement officer. Born Jan. 26, 1957, in St. Louis, he was the son of Patsy (Moore) and the late Eugene Johnston.
He is survived by his wife: Judy (Gowen) Johnston; a son: Matthew (Amanda) Johnston; a daughter-in-law: Tanya Pinkerton; two grandchildren: Chloe and David Pinkerton; a great-grandson: Alex Pinkerton; two sisters-in-law: Brenda Boyer and Carol (Melvin) Spreckelmeyer; a brother-in-law: Terry (Joanne) Gowen; four siblings: Eugene (Diana) Johnston, Mark Johnston, Donna Akins and Christine (Scott) Graham; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son: Robert “Nick” Pinkerton.
Memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 21, at Agape Faith Church, 3255 Hwy. V, De Soto, immediately followed by services officiated by Pastors Mel and Carol Spreckelmeyer. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home, Bonne Terre.
