Jimmy “Joe” Thornton, 70, of House Springs died March 27, 2018, at his home. Mr. Thornton spent his career as an industrial maintenance mechanic at the former St. Louis County Water Co., now Missouri American Water Co., from which he retired in 2004. He was a member of Concord Church in south St. Louis County. Born Nov. 4, 1947, in Boonville, he was the son of the late Lucille Frances (Crain) and Logan E. Thornton.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Pamela Jo (Prater) Thornton; two daughters: Debbie (Don) Jamison and Becky (Jeff) Newman, both of St. Charles; four grandchildren: Ben and Thomas Jamison and Zach and Sara Newman, all of St. Charles; and a sister: Katy (Dale) Schlueter of Carrolton.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Lee Mussmann; and an infant brother.
A memorial service was held April 2 at Concord Church, officiated by Pastor Rusty Wert. Burial will be at a later date in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Richland.
