James R. Beaman, 77, of Pevely died October 1, 2022, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Mr. Beaman was a 1964 graduate of Herculaneum High School and worked as a meat cutter for 45 years before retiring in 2010. During that time, he worked in various grocery stores and even owned and operated his own meat shop, Porky’s, in Eureka for more than
a decade. He was dedicated to family, building a pool in his back yard and over the years transforming it with an array of small pools and fountains, bird feeders, and whirlygigs. He loved food and enjoyed socializing, and was always the life of the party. He and his wife – both disco fans – loved hosting parties in their basement, which he equipped with a hanging mirror ball. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh. Born Jan. 16, 1945, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Mildred (Bradshaw) and James Delbert Beaman.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 56 years: Mary (Hannemann) Beaman of Pevely; two daughters: Shelley (Randy) Poppe of Ozark and Christine (Mark) Brinley of Imperial; and four grandchildren: Scottie and Sean Poppe and Morgan and Graham Brinley.
Funeral services and burial were private. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
