Freda M. Walz, 92, of De Soto died Jan. 29, 2022, in De Soto. Mrs. Walz retired as a cook at De Soto Junior High School. Born Oct. 19, 1929, in Blackwell, she was the daughter of the late Genevieve (Johnston) and David Courtway.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Dennis Walz.
She is survived by three children: David Walz, Nancy (Chuck) Brinkman and Kathy (Jeff) Johnston, all of De Soto; five grandchildren: Jeremy Walz of Jackson, Kristopher Walz of Jackson, Travis (Rene) Brinkman of Festus, Alex (Lindsey) Brinkman of Festus and Emily (Kyle) Oshia of De Soto; and eight great-grandchildren: J.J., Jake, Joey, Khloe, Ethan, David, Layne and Riley.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Robert Walz and Thomas Walz; and a sister: Dorothy (Jim) Wilson.
Visitation will be held from 9-9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S. Third St., in De Soto, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in De Soto. Memorials may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church or to its Adopt-an-Angel program. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
