Dorothy Vivian Meyers, 87, of Leesburg, Fla., formerly of Festus, died Aug. 23, 2022. Mrs. Meyers worked as a seamstress at the International Ladies Garment Workers Union plant in Festus for 30 years. After her retirement, she worked in the cafeteria at Festus Elementary School. She was a longtime member of Hematite Christian Church and was active in her community and with Elks Lodge 1721 in Crystal City. Two years ago, she moved to Florida to be with her daughter. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and going on cruises, and was an avid reader of James Patterson novels. She will be remembered for her love of nature and feeding animals, especially hummingbirds. Born Oct. 12, 1934, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Catherine (Pfeiffer) Ward. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years: Ronald Meyers, who died Dec. 11, 2002.
She is survived by a son: Kevin Meyers of Franklin, Va.; four daughters: Cynthia (Ken) Roth of Leesburg, Rhonda Van Noy of Festus, Patricia (Rob) Thomure of Festus and Tina (Ken) Heimos of Festus; a brother: Tony Ward of Iron Mountain; 19 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son: Keith Meyers; four brothers: Harry, Earl, Walter and Alec; and three sisters: Marion, Mildred and Merle June.
Arrangements were under the direction of Page-Theus Funeral Home in Leesburg.
