Hayden-Ross, Dorothy

Dorothy Mae “Dot” (Chappel) Hayden-Ross, 85, of St. Louis died Oct. 7, 2019, at Nazareth Living Center. Mrs. Hayden-Ross, who had lived for 40 years in Bloomsdale and 20 years in Wappapello, worked as a patient care tech and enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, and dancing, especially the jitterbug. Born Sept. 4, 1934, in Hussberg, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late William Odie and Beulah Mae (Forrest) Chappel. She was preceded in death by two husbands: Joseph M. Hayden and James Ross.

She is survived by three sons: Larry (Brenda) Hayden of St. Marys, Jimmie (Lois) Hayden of Drummonds, Tenn., and Charles Hayden of Warrensburg; a daughter: Linda Grimm of Imperial; two brothers: Jimmie (Peggy) Chappel of Sikeston and Bobby (Thelma) Chappel of Sikeston; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons: Jeffrey Hayden and Michael Hayden; and three sisters: Virginia Groves, Ann Curtis and Estelle Brown.

Visitation is at 2 p.m. and a funeral service is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Dr., in Festus. Memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
