Dennis Steve Shores, 68, of Pevely died March 11, 2020, at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton. Mr. Shores was a retired water treatment technician for the city of Crystal City and a member of Buren Chapel A.M.E. Church in Herculaneum. He also was a member of Amvets Post 42 in Herculaneum and American Legion Post 253 in Festus. Born Sept. 13, 1951, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Edna Mae (Burris) and Robert Anderson. He was preceded in death by his wife: Janet Lee (Cowan) Shores.
He is survived by two daughters: Nikita Shores of Pevely and Jonelle Denise (Mindez Mitchell) Shores of Belleville, Ill.; four grandchildren: Madison Shores, Malaia Shores, Makenna Shores and Maylon Mitchell; five sisters: Leslie Sue (the late Jerry Sr.) Thornton of St. Louis, Jessie (the late Lindell) Casey of Potosi, Audrey (the late Sherman) Kinder of Festus, Annette Shores of Festus and Rita Washington of Herculaneum; four brothers: Andrew Shores of St. Charles, Ronell Shores of Festus, Richard (Ethel) Shores of Pevely and Bruce Anderson of Herculaneum; and a sister-in-law: Jewell Shores of Rockford, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Jean (the late Anthony) McGuire; and a brother: Charles Shores.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Martinous Walls and the Rev. Gabrielle Kennedy. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Buren Chapel A.M. E. Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
