David Lee “Panama” Watkins, 61, of Hillsboro, formerly of Las Vegas, Nev., died Oct. 18, 2019, in St. Louis. Mr. Watkins was a U.S. Army veteran who had worked as a motorcycle detail specialist in the Las Vegas area. He enjoyed sand sculpting. Born March 27, 1958, in Ripley, Tenn., he was the son of Iris (Alexander) Brock of Hillsboro and Charlie Watkins of De Soto.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by seven siblings: Rose Alexander of Festus, Kathy Amell of Hillsboro, Charlene Hackett of De Soto, Frank Watkins of De Soto, John (Linda) Watkins of De Soto, Patricia (Scott) Schmitz of Pevely and Jerry (Chandy) Watkins of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Watkins chose to be cremated. A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to kidney or leukemia research. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
