Cindy Lou Vaugh, 63, of Festus died Wednesday, April 26, in Panama City, Fla. Mrs. Vaugh was a retired nurse who worked in emergency, hospice, cardiac catheterization and nursing education. She earned an associate degree in nursing from Jefferson College in 1992, a bachelor’s degree from Central Methodist University in 2011 and earned a nurse paralegal-legal nurse consultant certificate in 2021. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City, the Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District Board of Directors, the Red Hat Society and the First Class Scraps Scrapbooking Club and a former member of the Jefferson County Health Department board. She loved spending time with family and friends, travelling, football games and shopping. Born July 2, 1959, in Farmington, she was the daughter of the late Donna (Reed) and Oscar Govreau.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years: Stephen E. Vaugh; two sons: Christopher (Shawna Theel) Vaugh of Hillsboro and Zachary (Kristen) Vaugh of Festus; three brothers: Jerry (Debbie) Govreau of Desloge, Michael (Charlon) Govreau of Festus and Daniel (Theresa) Govreau of Farmington; and seven grandchildren: Kaleen, Welker and Grey Vaugh and Arianna, Victor, Heaven and Malachi Theel.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 4, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, immediately followed by services officiated by Jim Rhives. Memorials may be made to BackStoppers Inc. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
