Charles E. Hatcher, 91, of De Soto died May 16, 2022, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Hatcher was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and retired from Gary Mullins Ambulance in 1980. In 2003 he retired from the De Soto School District as a custodian. Born Dec. 8, 1930, in Cutler, Ill., he was the son of the late Marjorie Ellen (Harrison) and Floyd Marvin Hatcher.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Mildred E. “Milly” (Martin) Hatcher of De Soto; a daughter: Elizabeth Baynes of De Soto; four stepchildren: Debbie Casey of Festus, Donald Arnold of Kansas City, Patty Arnold of Dallas, Texas, and Steven Arnold of Grand Prairie, Texas; two grandchildren: Tyler Charles Baynes and Elayna Elizabeth Baynes; five step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother: Marvin Hatcher; and a sister: Lillian Marie Oedewaldt.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. until a funeral services at 7 p.m. Monday, June 13, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, officiated by Herb Hollinsworth. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Cutler Cemetery in Cutler, Ill. Memorials may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, P.O. Box 758593, Topeka, KS 66675-8593. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
