Bill Haney, 92, O'Fallon
Bill R. Haney, 92, of O’Fallon died March 26, 2025, at his home. He was a 1950 Festus High School graduate and attended the University of Missouri in Columbia for two years before being drafted into the U.S. Army. While serving in the Army, he spent two years in Ethiopia. After his discharge, he earned a business degree from Central Missouri State College (now the University of Central Missouri) in Warrensburg. He worked for the Division of Employment Security for 40-plus years before retiring as an office manager. He was an accomplished lead guitarist, playing at dances throughout his time in college and the military, and he played with several local bands. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of O’Fallon and a life member of the American Legion. Born Sept. 4, 1932, he was the son of the late Stanley J. and Marie L. Haney.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Dorothy M. Roussin, whom he married in September 1963 at the First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City. In addition, he is survived by a brother: Richard L. Haney; four sisters-in-law: Donna L. Roussin, Mary Ellen Neel, Maryann Roussin and Margaret Peterein; a special cousin: Marian Gale Sharp of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held later. Arrangements are under the direction of Newcomer Funeral Home.
