Bessie Mae Carter, 73, of Hillsboro died Jan. 10, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Carter was a retired registered nurse who worked at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and was a member of the De Soto Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, traveling and going to casinos. Born April 30, 1943, in Reynolds County, she was the daughter of the late Toney and Velma (Fox) Gore.

She was preceded in death by three husbands: William Beavers Sr., Billy Ray Wiseman Sr. and Lindell Carter.

She is survived by three sons: William (Art Schon) Beavers Jr. of Marquette, Mich., Billy Ray (Sam) Wiseman Jr. of Beaufort and Merle Wayne (Patti) Wiseman of Festus; three daughters: Roxanna (Billy) Chavers of Lonedell, Faye (Charlie) Scherrer of Hillsboro and Pam (Steve) Taylor of Festus; a brother: Douglas Gore of Cedar Hill; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter: Rebecca Wiseman; four brothers: Rolley, Robert, Leonard and Monroe Gore; and a sister: Annabelle Forshee.

Funeral services were held Jan. 12 at Mahn Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Don Bahr. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery, De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Home, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home, De Soto.
