Festus-area man allegedly threatens dump truck driver in apparent road rage incident

Timothy Bice

Timothy W. Bice, 58, who lives south of Festus, allegedly threatened a dump truck driver with a gun in an apparent road rage incident on I-55 last year, according to court documents.

Bice on March 4 was charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon and misdemeanor fourth-degree assault. He was arrested on March 5 and released from the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro on a $4,000 bond on the same day, court records show.

According to the case’s probable-cause statement, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was called on Sept. 11, 2025, about an apparent road rage incident. A man driving a 2023 Western Star dump truck said Bice, who was driving a 2024 Ford F-150, followed him on northbound I-55 to the Hwy. M exit in Barnhart and pointed a gun at him.

According to court documents, Bice started following the dump truck on northbound I-55 near the on-ramp at Hwy. 61-67. He continued to pursue the dump truck to the exit in Barnhart.

The dump truck driver said Bice pulled in front of him on the off-ramp, got out of the pickup and threatened to kill him, according to the case’s probable-cause statement.

A woman, who also was traveling on the interstate, told investigators she saw Bice holding a gun out of the window of the pickup, the report said.

A deputy located Bice driving the F-150 near the intersection of County Lane and Laura Lane south of Festus. The deputy found a gun in the pickup, according to the report.
