Prestion N. Jones, 28, of Cedar Hill was recently arrested on a burglary charge after allegedly stealing tools from a home that was being renovated in Dittmer. He was on probation at the time of his arrest, according to court documents.
Jones was arrested on March 12, and as of March 13, he was being held on a $10,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court and jail records show.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on Feb. 24 charged Jones with felony second-degree burglary, court documents said.
According to a probable-cause statement filed in January by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, two people told deputies on Sept. 25, 2025, that tools were stolen from a home in the 9500 block of Ridge Road in Dittmer. They said the home was broken into.
The man who owned the tools said he contacted someone who knew Jones, and that person said Jones stole the tools. The person who knew Jones retrieved the stolen tools from him and gave them back to the man, the report said.
Jones allegedly told investigators he broke into the home and stole the tools in order to pay for an “ongoing drug habit,” according to the report.
Jones was on probation at the time of the alleged theft after pleading guilty to at least two other felony charges earlier in 2025.
According to court documents, he pleaded guilty in February 2025 to a charge for possession of a controlled substance following on October 2023 arrest. The judge initially suspended the imposition of a sentence and placed Jones on five years’ probation, but the probation was revoked in April 2025.
The judge then suspended the execution of a seven-year sentence and placed Jones on five years’ probation, court records show.
In May 2025, Jones pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property after he was found in possession of stolen cut up AT&T wires. The judge suspended the execution of a seven-year sentence in that case and placed Jones on five years’ probation, according to court documents.
A month after the alleged burglary in Dittmer, Jones was placed on five years’ probation again after pleading guilty to stealing a motor vehicle and having another seven-year prison sentence suspended, court records said.
