Festus man allegedly burglarized Crystal City laundromat

Colby Besore

Colby A. Besore, 43, of Festus has been accused of breaking into a Crystal City laundromat and damaging three machines in order to steal more than $1,300, according to court documents.

Besore was arrested on June 18 and was being held on a $10,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, according to jail records.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on June 11 had charged Besore with felony counts of second-degree burglary, stealing and first-degree property damage, court records said.

According to a probable-cause statement filed by the Crystal City Police, Besore entered Twin City Coin Laundry, 1229 N. Truman Blvd., just before 1 a.m. on Jan. 4. He allegedly used a hammer and other tools to break into two gambling machines and a cashout machine.

The estimated cost to repair the machines was $25,000, and Besore allegedly stole $1,332 from the machines, the report said.

Besore’s clothing and other items were found behind the business, and he allegedly admitted to investigators that he burglarized the laundromat, according to the report.

Besore is considered a persistent offender. He has been convicted of first-degree property damage four times, and in October 2011, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and armed criminal action, according to court documents.
