Karen C. Kuenzel, 67, of Hillsboro died after a crash Sunday afternoon, Aug. 23, on Hwy. 21 near De Soto, officials reported.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol no longer identifies victims of crashes. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim on Monday, Aug. 24.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 28-year-old man from Black was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima northbound behind a 2019 Can-Am Spyder operated by Kuenzel at 2:24 p.m. The Altima, which was following too closely, struck the rear of the Spyder, causing Kuenzel to be ejected, the report said.
Kuenzel was taken by Valle Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital Jefferson where she was pronounced dead at 4 p.m.
The Spyder was totaled and the Altima had moderate damage, the report said. Both drivers were wearing safety devices.
