Kenneth Ray Williams, 70, of Festus died following a motorcycle crash Wednesday, Aug. 26, on Hwy. 67 north of Meyer Road south of Festus, officials reported.
The Highway Patrol no longer publishes names of those involved in accidents. The Medical Examiner’s Office identified Williams as the man who died in the accident.
At 10:55 a.m., a 59-year-old St. Louis man driving a 2020 Toyota Tacoma exited a private drive onto southbound Hwy. 67, attempting to use the crossover to enter the northbound lanes, the report said. He slowed for another vehicle approaching the crossover and Williams, riding a southbound 2005 Honda Shadow Aero, applied the brakes and began to skid.
Williams struck the front of the Toyota and was ejected from the motorcycle, the report said.
Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District personnel transported Williams to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, the report said.
Hospital personnel at Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County pronounced Williams dead at 7:02 p.m. on Aug. 26, the report said.
According to the report, the St. Louis man was wearing a seat belt, and Williams was wearing a Missouri Department of Transportation-approved safety helmet.
The motorcycle was extensively damaged, and the Toyota was moderately damaged, the report said.
