Officers responded to a shots fired call at the 200 block of Sievelle Ave.

COLUMBIA − The Columbia Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at the 5600 block of Lightpost Court late Saturday night.

Officers initially responded to the 200 block of Sievelle Avenue at 10:50 p.m.

They found the suspect, 21-year-old Rodquel Jones, barricading himself in his home and refusing to come out.

CPD’s SWAT then responded and took Jones into custody.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and found additional evidence of the crime.

According to Monique Currie, the suspect's partner, she got woken up in her sleep to commotion outside.

"I didn't know who it was until I looked on the ring camera, and then I was police with like shields and stuff." said Currie. "I got under the bed because I was scared. That was too much for me and I'm still confused on what happened."

She said officers removed her from the apartment while they searched the unit.

Jones was arrested for felony stealing, felony resisting arrest, armed criminal action, harassment of the first-degree and unlawful use of a weapon.

This is an ongoing investigation.
