Mason Busch, 27, of Festus has been accused of assaulting a family member at least four times between January and August. The alleged assaults occurred at a home in the 1200 block of Cliff Drive in Festus, according to court documents.
Busch on Nov. 3 was charged with third-degree domestic assault, a class E felony punishable by up to four years in prison; and three counts of fourth-degree domestic assault, a class A misdemeanor which are each punishable by up to a year in jail and fines of up to $2,000 each, court records show.
He was arrested on Nov. 15, and was being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents said.
Festus Police were called to the home on Jan. 29 after Busch allegedly threw items and threatened to hit the woman with a kitchen chair. He physically resisted when the officer arrested him, and he also tried to hit the officer with his hands and head, according to the case’s probable-cause statement.
The officer also reported that Busch attempted to strike him while he was driving to the Police Station, causing the patrol vehicle to go off course and nearly hit parked vehicles. Busch also attempted to hit the officer while being booked, the report said.
Festus Police were called to the home again on June 28 after Busch allegedly pushed the woman down, causing her arm to bleed. The woman also told the officer that Busch had assaulted her the previous night, causing bruises to form on her chest, arm and face, according to a probable-cause statement.
On July 31, Festus Police were called to the home after Busch allegedly started yelling at and hitting the woman while she was on the phone. The woman said Busch threw a cigarette at her face and recently threatened to kill her, the case’s probable-cause statement said.
Busch allegedly hit the woman at least twice on her arm on Aug. 4. The woman told an officer she did not want to evict Busch from the home or apply for an order of protection, and she also signed a no-prosecution form, the probable-cause statement said.
