A sixth suspect has pleaded guilty in connection to a fatal shooting on Dove Drive in Columbia in 2023.
Damarkus Williams, 20, took a plea deal Thursday and pleaded guilty to the class C felony conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, according to online court records.
Williams was sentenced to 10 years in prison with credit for time served. He has been held without bond since June 2023, when he was arrested.
Williams, who was originally charged with felonies including first-degree murder, is among seven people who have been charged in connection to the killing of 33-year-old Deshon Houston in the 3200 block of Dove Drive on June 26, 2023.
Court documents said Houston was found on the driveway of a duplex with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
Five other people from the shooting — Alqueze Jones, Bryton Allen, Deljuan Turner, Deazes Turner and Jajuan Crockett — have pleaded guilty. Ja'Shaun Barney is currently awaiting trial.
