A Jefferson County judge has sentenced a Bonne Terre man to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking. The man had been involved in distributing illegal drugs from more than 13 years, according to court documents.
Cody W. Logan, 42, was sentenced on Oct. 28 by Jefferson County Div. 4 Circuit Judge Brenda Stacey. He had pleaded guilty to second-degree drug trafficking on Sept. 15, court records said.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Lindsay Whalen prosecuted the case.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, a Missouri State Highway Patrol corporal was told in 2024 that Logan was selling methamphetamine from his Bonne Terre home. Logan had previously been identified as an associate of a large meth distributor in St. Francois County, and in May 2021, he had been found with seven ounces of meth.
In October 2024, a Highway Patrol corporal followed a Kia Forte that Logan was driving to St. Louis, where he appeared to purchase a large quantity of meth. A computer check indicated the Logan’s license was suspended, and the corporal stopped Logan at the ZX gas station, 11845 Hwy. CC, south of Festus, the report said.
A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office canine officer was called to the gas station, and a police dog indicated there may be drugs in the car. A bag containing about 682 grams of meth was found in the car, according to the report.
Logan told the officers that he did not know the name of the man he had purchased the drugs from in St. Louis, but he said he had been purchasing meth from the same man for a while, the report said.
Logan was on probation at the time of his arrest. In July 2021, he had been found guilty of delivery of a controlled substance in Washington County and two counts of delivery of a controlled substance in St. Francois County, according to court records.
Logan currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.
