One person of interest was charged in connection to a stabbing in Owensville early Sunday morning.
Henry Lorton, 36, is charged with one count of second-degree murder and three counts of first-degree assault, according to court documents.
Three people were injured and one died in a stabbing incident in Gasconade County early Sunday morning, the Owensville Police Chief told KOMU 8 News.
Chief Scott Griffith confirmed this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
The investigation determined an altercation occurred in a parking lot area involving eight people, according to the probable cause statement.
One victim, who was stabbed in the chest, died, and three men sustained cut wounds, according to court documents.
On Monday, Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as 21-year-old Trey Johnson, from Owensville.
Lorton was identified based on surveillance footage and clothing descriptions, and police found him at his residence around 5:36 a.m. Sunday, according to court documents.
Investigators allegedly found clothing items with blood stains in his home, according to court records.
A witness told investigators he started the night with Lorton on Saturday night, and he was involved in the fight with six subjects, according to court documents.
The witness said he was struck by two individuals after he was confronted for throwing a beer bottle and striking a vehicle, according to the probable cause statement.
After the incident, he and Lorton allegedly left the area in Lorton's vehicle. When they arrived at Lorton's home, Lorton allegedly told the witness he stabbed four people, according to court records.
The witness said Lorton used a gray folding knife.
What Lorton told investigators
Lorton later admitted to allegedly being at the scene and involved in the initial altercation, according to a probable cause statement.
He said six people got out of the vehicle that was struck with the beer and he left the altercation, according to court documents.
Lorton said they followed him to the alley where the altercation occurred and started beating him, knocking him down and kicking him.
He said while he was beaten, he must have blacked out or gone unconscious, and when he woke up, the four males beating him were running away, according to court documents.
Lorton denied having a pocket knife on his person during the fight and denied stabbing or cutting anyone.
He is being held on no bond in the Franklin County Jail and his arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday in Gasconade County.
The Owensville Police Department said on Facebook Sunday that it was investigating the death as a homicide, according to the post.
Officers responded to the incident on First Street around 1:28 a.m., according to the post.
