JEFFERSON CITY — A Cole County judge is set to review bond next week for a woman accused of stabbing fellow Lincoln University sprinter Kevaughn Goldson, 23.
Denita Jackson, 27, is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection to Goldson's death. Jackson appeared on video from the Cole County Jail for an arraignment hearing in Cole County Friday morning.
Jackson allegedly stabbed Goldson twice on Monday after a struggle broke out when she caught him in bed with another woman, according to the probable cause statement. Goldson died from his injuries in the hospital, according to the statement.
Jackson, who is a senior Lincoln University student from Berbice, Guyana, is being held without bond at the Cole County Jail. She is also being held on an immigration detainer, and copies of her fingerprints were sent to Immigration and Customs Enforcement earlier this week, according to court records.
Jackson did not have legal representation at her hearing Friday and intends to hire private counsel, according to court records.
A bond review hearing is set for 2 p.m. Monday.
