COLUMBIA — A Boone County judge denied bond Tuesday for the suspect charged in connection to the Sept. 27 shooting in downtown Columbia that injured two people and killed a woman who was a student at Stephens College.

A confined docket hearing was held Tuesday at the Boone County Courthouse for Misael Covarrubias, 23, of Fellsmere, Florida. Covarrubias is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon causing death or injury in the killing of Aiyanna Williams

During the hearing, Judge Kimberly Shaw ruled that Covarrubias will remain held without bond, citing the severity of the charges and public safety concerns.
