A settlement hearing has been scheduled for a 2024 fatal gas station shooting case that involved a Columbia man, according to online court documents.

The suspect of the case, Seth Brinegar, had previously been indicted on charges of second-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and a misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child, according to previous KOMU 8 reporting.

Court documents said a suspect fired a gun from inside their vehicle at the FastLane gas station on Feb. 1, 2024. The shooting killed 33-year-old Corey Bilger, who was pumping gas, according to previous reporting.

During the scheduled hearing, a judge is set to review Brinegar's petition for a settlement in the wrongful death case.

The settlement hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. on April 27 in the Boone County Courthouse, according to court documents.
