A 37-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly attacking three people with a knife in Mexico, Missouri, in the 100 block of South Jefferson Street.

Robert H. LeCoque of Benton City was charged with three counts of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of unlawful use of a weapon, according to court records.

A probable cause statement alleged that LeCoque cut three people at a bar after he caused a disturbance. LeCoque allegedly tried to climb onto a stage while a band was performing and then stabbed three people while patrons tried to remove him from the stage, according to the probable cause statement.

LeCoque allegedly fled the scene and was arrested without incident about an hour later on Huntingfield Road near Jefferson Road, according to a news release from the Mexico Public Safety Department. He was taken to the Audrain County Jail, according to the news release.

One person was stabbed and two others were cut in the incident, according to the Public Safety Department.

The person who was stabbed was transported to University Hospital and was reported in stable condition around 8:30 a.m. Monday when the Public Safety Department issued its news release.

The two other people who were cut were treated at the scene and did not require further medical assistance, according to the news release.
