St. Luke’s Hospital is expanding its urgent care offerings into Jefferson County.
The hospital, which is based in Chesterfield, will open an urgent care Monday, Aug. 31 in a 2,670-square-foot building at 832 Arnold Commons, according to St. Luke’s officials.
It will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Jami Jones, who will be the facility’s assistant nurse manager, said she’s excited the healthcare provider is coming to her home town.
“I have lived in the Arnold area since I was 6 years old,” said Jones, 42. “I have been here for quite some time. I started my career at St. Luke’s, and I have been here for 20 years. This is a great opportunity for St. Luke’s to blend into my home community.”
The Arnold location will be St. Luke’s eighth urgent care center in the greater St. Louis area but the first in Jefferson County.
“We have some physician offices in the county, but this is the first urgent care facility in the county,” St. Luke’s spokeswoman Cassandra Frederickson said.
Jones said it made sense for St. Luke’s to expand into the county.
“Arnold and Jefferson County have experienced residential and commercial growth,” Jones said. “We felt this was a great opportunity to bring the high-quality health care services that St. Luke’s has provided over the years to the area. It will help us continue our mission of improving the quality of life for our patients and community.”
St. Luke’s started planning to make the move into Arnold in 2019, and construction at the Arnold Commons location began in May, Frederickson said.
The center will serve patients with minor medical emergencies, like earaches, cuts and insect bites to more severe injuries like sprains and broken bones, Frederickson said.
Board-certified physicians and nurse practitioners will be available to conduct sports and camp physicals, administer vaccinations and test for viral and bacterial infections, such as flu and strep throat.
The facility also will offer diagnostic testing with X-ray services, and it will have an on-site lab for blood work.
In addition to services for individuals and families, employers in the area may take advantage of St. Luke’s workplace-related healthcare services to manage occupational and workplace issues, including on-the-job illnesses and injuries, workplace screenings, companywide health initiatives and workers’ compensation care.
Patients may walk in at the center, or they may check in through St. Luke’s website. The hospital system also offers virtual visits through its website.
Jones said the Arnold facility will have four patient rooms, and the center has an open concept that will allow visitors to see what is going on in the building, while also assuring privacy for patients.
“It is very welcoming,” Jones said. “We are happy to be here and excited for the community.”
