The Missouri Department of Transportation is scheduled in June 2024 to begin work to improve the area where St. Johns Church Road, Linderhof Drive and Jeffco Boulevard intersect.

Work will begin on St. Johns Church Road in Arnold on Monday.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced it will close a portion of St. Johns Church Road in Arnold for approximately three weeks, starting at about 7 a.m. Monday, April 14.

The road will be closed at the intersection of Jeffco Boulevard. Crews will be installing traffic signals at the intersection. St. Johns Church Road will remain open at the intersection of Richardson Boulevard.

The work is part of a $2.5 million project to improve the area where St. Johns Church Road, Linderhof Drive and Jeffco Boulevard intersect and to make the intersection of Hwy. 61-67 and Miller Road East just south of Arnold city limits safer.

MoDOT hired Pavement Solutions for the project.

MoDOT area engineer Stephen O’Connor previously said a left-turn lane already exists on Jeffco at the intersection with St. Johns Church Road, and MoDOT will add a left turn lane on St. Johns Church Road for vehicles turning north onto Jeffco Boulevard.

He also said a left-turn lane will be added to Linderhof Drive, which is across Jeffco from St. Johns Church Road, for vehicles to turn south onto Jeffco Boulevard.

Crosswalks will be added across the streets, and MoDOT will be responsible for maintaining the traffic signals and the crosswalk, according to the agreement the Arnold City Council approved with MoDOT in November 2023.

O’Connor said MoDOT will align Miller Road East with the entrance of the Dollar General store, 4212 Jeffco Blvd., and three new left-turn lanes – one on the highway, another on Miller Road East and the third on the Dollar General entrance – will be constructed.

In addition, a right-turn lane will be built on Hwy. 61-67 for vehicles to turn onto Miller Road East, O’Connor said.

The work at the two intersections is expected to be completed this summer, according to MoDOT’s website, modot.org.
