The Leader wants to know about the great deal you scored on an item for your home. Send us the story of your “Best Buy” and you could win $200 in our annual home and garden contest.
We’re looking for a photo and short explanation of an item you purchased that added something to your home, whether that “something” is beauty, functionality, efficiency or a bit of “wow!’ factor.
Maybe it’s the antique spool bed you bought at a yard sale and reconditioned to be the showpiece of your master suite.
Maybe it’s the arched window you snagged for a song at an auction or estate sale and used to illuminate your downstairs rec room. It could be the last few pieces of a discontinued run of tile that now graces your remodeled bathroom.
Did you buy it on clearance? Did you combine it with other items and turn it into something fabulous?
Whatever it is, tell us about your great deal.
We will print as many of the submissions as space permits in the March 31 issue of the Jefferson County Leader, which will feature a special home and garden section to preview the De Soto Home Show, set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at De Soto High School, 815 Amvets Drive. The show is sponsored by the De Soto Chamber of Commerce and Leader Publications.
The deadline to submit an entry for the “My Best Buy” contest is 5 p.m. Friday, March 18.
Entries should include the following:
■ Name, address and phone number of person submitting entry. The phone number is essential, since often there are questions that need answers when preparing entries for publication.
■ Town where home is located. (The home must be in Jefferson County.)
■ A description (200 words or fewer) of what’s in the photo and why it was a great deal. Tell us what you paid, where you got it, etc.
It is fine to include people in the photos, but please provide identification of anyone pictured.
There is a limit of two entries per person. The winning entry will be drawn at random and the person who submitted it will receive $200.
