Schnucks Markets Inc. will close its store at 1275 N. Truman Blvd. in Festus on June 30, the company announced today (March 26).

The former Shop ‘n Save store opened as a Schnucks store on Oct. 21, 2018.

Another Schnucks store is at 1181 Gannon Plaza in Festus and will remain open.

According to the company’s written statement, the Truman Boulevard location will shutter because Schnucks was unable to reach a satisfactory lease renewal agreement.

Schnucks also announced that it will close its St. Ann store on May 5 because of declining sales there.

The company said the approximately 130 employees at the two stores slated for closure “will all be offered transfers to other nearby Schnucks stores” at their same rates of pay.

Schnucks bought the Truman Boulevard site, which included a fuel center, as part of a larger purchase of 19 St. Louis-area Shop ‘n Save stores the company announced last fall. The Truman Boulevard fuel station was closed after the acquisition and never reopened.

Signs will be posted at both the Truman Boulevard and St. Ann stores indicating dates that pharmacy prescriptions will be transferred to other nearby Schnucks pharmacies. Truman Boulevard pharmacy customer prescriptions will be transferred to the pharmacy at the Schnucks on Gannon Plaza, the company stated.
