William Lavon Carter, 48, of O’Fallon has been accused of using a stolen credit card over a three-day period to buy more than $2,600 worth of items at Home Depot, 3865 Vogel Road, in Arnold, according to court documents.
Williams has been charged with stealing, a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison. He was arrested on Sept. 30, and he was released on Oct. 1 on a $10,000 bond from the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court records said.
According to a probable-cause statement filed by the Arnold Police, Carter used the stolen credit card at the store between July 24-26 to purchase a total of $2,687.24 worth of items.
He bought $1,024.76 worth of items on July 24; $637.72 worth of items on July 25; and $1,024.76 worth of items on July 26. He never worked for the business whose credit card he allegedly used to purchase the items, the report said.
