Two Arnold teenagers, including one juvenile, and an Arnold man recently were arrested for allegedly using a BB gun or pellet gun to shoot at and damage two businesses, four vehicles and one mobile home throughout Arnold between Oct. 10 and Oct. 16, Arnold Police Capt. Robert Ruckman says.
And, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is looking into whether the three were responsible for shooting out windows on five vehicles driving or parked along Saline Road in the Fenton area last month, Capt. Ron Arnhart of the Sheriff’s Office said today (Oct. 29).
In Arnold, just before midnight on Oct. 10, a window was shattered on a 1991 Nissan Sentra parked in the 700 block of Sur Vista Drive, according to Arnold Police.
Between midnight and 8 a.m. on Oct. 11, two windows were shattered on a 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe parked in the 3200 block of Bayshore Parkway in Arnold, the report said.
Two windows were shot and damaged on a mobile home in Starling Community, off Starling Airport Road, in Arnold just before 11 p.m. Oct. 14, and the damage was estimated at $50, according to the report.
Around that same time, a windshield on a work van parked in the 100 block of Starling Community was shot, causing an estimated $75 in damage, the report said.
Also that day, a rear window and a tail light were shot out of a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Mount Vernon in Arnold, causing $375 in damage, the report said.
Overnight between Oct. 15 and Oct. 16, a double-pane window on the front of the Schnucks store, 3900 Vogel Road, in Arnold was shattered, and that damage was estimated at $900, according to the report.
At about 1 a.m. Oct. 16, a glass door was shot out and a window and a sign were shot and damaged at the McDonald’s restaurant, 250 Arnold Crossroads, and that damage was estimated at $2,400.
The two teens and man were arrested not long after they allegedly used a “gas-powered BB gun” to shoot at the McDonald’s, the report said.
One of the suspects is 15 and his case has been turned over to juvenile authorities, Ruckman said.
The other teen is 17, and felony property damages are being sought against him, as well as against the 22-year-old man, through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Ruckman said.
The 22-year-old already was wanted on outstanding warrants from Arnold and Jefferson County, the report said.
The 15-year-old was transported to a juvenile detention facility. The 17-year-old was booked and released pending application for warrants, and the 22-year-old was booked and held for the Sheriff’s Office, Ruckman said.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating similar vandalism in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton and is trying to determine if any of the three arrested in Arnold are involved, Arnhart said.
On Sept. 23, the Sheriff’s Office received reports about windows being shot out of five vehicles as they traveled along or were parked along an approximately 2-mile stretch of Saline Road in the Fenton area.
It looked like a pellet gun or BB gun was used in those shootings, too, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
