More than $4,700 in tools and other items recently were stolen from a garage in the 400 block of Montauk in the Festus area. The burglary occurred between 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and 5:55 a.m. Dec. 6, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The culprit cut a hole in a wall to the garage to get inside and then stole numerous items. Some of the stolen items included a Milwaukee drill and driver set; a Milwaukee circular saw; a DeWalt drill; a DeWalt table saw; a tool box filled with sockets, ratchets and screw drivers; a Kenwood radio; 10 commercial outlets; blue paint; and several rolls of Romex wire. In all, the damage to the garage and the stolen items were valued at $4,703, the report said.

As of Thursday (Dec. 15), the stolen items had not been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, Lt. Gary Higginbotham said. Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
