Arnold Police are warning those who used a drive-thru ATM at the Together Credit Union, 1334 Jeffco Blvd., that authorities believe a skimming device was on the machine for about a month.
A service technician found a skimming device on Dec. 27 on the middle drive-thru ATM at the credit union. It is believed the device, which had a micro camera, had been on the machine since the start of December, the report said.
Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said as of Jan. 4, no one had reported their account information being stolen after using the ATM. He said anyone who suspects someone has accessed their account without permission to call the Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
Christopher said it is difficult to see skimming devices placed on ATMs and often the devices are inside the machine.
“It is really difficult with the advancements in technologies with these skimmers and how they are placed on to the card readers,” he said. “I would say look for any inconsistencies around the card reader. Look for anything that seems out of place, is loose fitting around it or be aware of the card not sliding smoothly into it. It is hard to see (skimming devices).”
