Thieves who recently broke into the Maytag Laundry in Festus got away with just a couple of hundred dollars, but they caused thousands of dollars in damage to the business, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis reports.
The burglary happened overnight between March 24 and March 25.
When Maytag Laundry, at the corner of Truman Boulevard and Pine Street, employees showed up to work around 7:45 a.m. March 25, they discovered the vandalism.
“There was forced entry into the building. Several items were missing, including around $200 cash,” Lewis said. “There was several thousand dollars in damage to machinery and equipment. There were doors broken.”
