For the second time in two weeks, thieves broke into Prescriptions Plus, 1113 W. Gannon Drive, in Festus. The latest incident occurred early this morning (March 7).

Video footage indicates today’s break-in mirrors one at the business on Feb. 20, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.

“It’s real similar to the one in February,” he said. “It (the latest burglary) happened around 1:45 a.m. They forced open the front door like they did the last time. They stole tens of thousands of dollars of narcotics. But, this time there were three masked suspects. There were two the last time.”

Both times, the suspects wore ski masks, hoodies and blue jeans, and they acted quickly and appeared to have a plan as they sought specific prescription drugs, Lewis said.

He said the latest Prescriptions Plus break-in occurred while storms with high winds blew through the region.

“They hit during a storm,” Lewis said. “During a storm, dozens of alarms at businesses go off. These people knew what they were doing.”

The Medicine Shoppe, 100 N. Main Street, De Soto, was burglarized Feb. 21 under similar circumstances, he said.
