The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a 2003 Dodge Durango SUV that was stolen from outside a home in the 3000 block of Short Street in Imperial. The theft happened between Sept. 1 and Sept. 8, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
A neighbor saw a light on at the home about 3:20 a.m. Sept. 8 and knew the homeowner was out of town and reported it to the Sheriff’s Office. A deputy stopped by the house to check on the report and contacted the homeowner, who said the house was locked when he departed on Sept. 1, the report said.
The deputy found the garage door and a door inside the garage leading into the house open and the Durango missing. The Durango was valued at $2,000, according to the report.
The Sheriff’s Office doesn’t know how the thief got into the house, the report said.
Capt. Andy Sides said Sept. 24 that the vehicle had not been recovered and there were no arrests. Anyone with information is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
