A fire that damaged a mobile home in the 200 block of Golden Court in Otto is being investigated as arson. The suspicious fire is believed to have started under the porch of the vacant home, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The Antonia Fire Protection District responded to a call about the fire at about 11:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, and firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes after arriving, Deputy Chief Bobby Chrisco said.
Antonia Fire reported the fire damaged the porch and front exterior of the mobile home, but the interior was not damaged. The scene was cleared at about 1 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said Tuesday, Feb. 21, that the fire was still being investigated.
The Saline Valley Fire Protection District helped with the call. The Rock Township Ambulance District also responded to the mobile home, Chrisco said.
