Eureka Police arrested a 41-year-old St. Clair man for alleged drug possession. The man allegedly told the officers the capsules they found contained fentanyl, police reported.
Officers were called at about 10:35 a.m. July 12 because the man was seen walking around storage units at the EZMove Storage facility, 601 Howerton Lane, with tools and other items in his hand. When officers arrived, they found the man outside the facility, the report said.
After identifying who the man was, the officers learned he was wanted by the St. Clair Police on a warrant for an ordinance violation. The officers then arrested the man, according to the report.
When the officers searched the man, they allegedly found multiple capsules containing a white, powdery substance in his pocket. The man also had a circular saw, commercial door closer and four black wireless lights, the report said.
The man allegedly told police a friend had given him the saw, door closer and lights. He said he was trying to sell the items, according to the report.
The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked. He told officers he had swallowed eight to nine pill capsules before he was arrested and he was not feeling well, the report said.
The man was transported to Mercy Hospital Washington in Washington, where he was evaluated. He was then transported to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office because of the warrant, according to the report.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the man through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Capt. Michael Werges said.
