Blake A. Slaughter, 23, of Imperial has been sentenced to 11 years in prison following numerous felony charges, including resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, DWI and receiving stolen property, court papers indicate.
On March 2, 2015, Slaughter, driving a stolen vehicle, fled from law enforcement officers, leading Jefferson County deputies on a chase beginning in Hillsboro and ending at Tesson Ferry Road in south St. Louis County. During the pursuit, Slaughter passed several motorists, putting them in danger, the probable-cause statement said.
In addition, after the vehicle was disabled in St. Louis County, Slaughter ran into a wooded area, where he was apprehended. During the vehicle and foot chase, law enforcement equipment was damaged, the report said.
After Slaughter was taken into custody, officers found a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. During questioning, Slaughter told officers the substance was “speed” and that he had smoked “a large amount” of it before driving the vehicle, according to the report.
On March 11, 2015, Slaughter was found in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton with a stolen Ford pickup, the probable-cause statement said.
A week later, on March 18, 2015, Slaughter was spotted driving a vehicle with no plates at Hwy. 141 and Fiedler Lane in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton. When a law enforcement officer tried to pull him over, Slaughter fled “at a high rate of speed passing on Romaine Creek and East Romaine Creek nearly striking numerous vehicles head on.” In addition, Slaughter was driving with a revoked license, the report said.
Two days later, on March 20, 2015, Slaughter was found driving a stolen pickup in the 3300 block of West Rock Creek Road in High Ridge, according to the report.
Slaughter pleaded guilty to one count of resisting arrest, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of driving under the influence of drugs, all felonies, stemming from the March 2, 2015, incident, as well as to one count of felony receiving stolen property tied to the March 11, 2015, incident; to one count of felony resisting arrest and one count of misdemeanor driving while revoked connected to the March 18, 2015, incident; and to one count of felony receiving stolen property tied to the March 20, 2015 incident, according to court records.
On Dec. 4, 2015, Jefferson County Div. 3 Circuit Judge Nathan B. Stewart sentenced Slaughter to three seven-year and three four-year prison terms for the felonies. One of the seven-year terms is to be served consecutive to one of the four-year terms, and the remaining terms are to be served concurrent, or at the same time, with the others, for a total of 11 years. In addition, Slaughter was fined $300 for driving while revoked. Slaughter may be released early if he successfully completes a 24-month treatment program, the report said.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Douglas S. Pribble handled the cases.
Slaughter previously was convicted of felony tampering with a motor vehicle stemming from a Feb. 27, 2015, incident in St. Louis County and to felony DWI tied to a December 2014 incident in St. Louis County.
He currently is in the Ozark Correctional Center in Fordland.
