The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the recent theft of a piece of heavy equipment from Christian Disposal in the 8400 block of Hwy. 30 in Dittmer.
Between Feb. 28 and March 3, someone cut a chain that secured a gate on the company’s lot and then broke into an outbuilding and stole a yellow and black New Holland skid steer valued at about $15,000, the report said.
A neighbor reported seeing someone at the business in a small white pickup with a camper shell on it at about midnight on Feb. 28.
As of March 17, the skid steer had not been recovered and no arrests had been made, said Capt. Ron Arnhart of the Sheriff’s Office.
