The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a 13-year-old Festus-area girl who went missing Tuesday (Nov. 12).
Marie Al-Zubeidy was last seen at about 8 p.m. that day, said Capt. Ralph Brown of the Sheriff’s Office.
Her mother, Suzanne Lee Al-Zubeidy, reported Marie missing that evening, Brown said.
“It appears she left the residence through a bedroom window,” he said.
Marie’s mother searched for her daughter and then contacted the Sheriff’s Office, Brown said.
Also, Marie’s mother posted a Nov. 13 message on her Facebook page asking people to help find her daughter.
Brown said it looks like Marie ran away.
“The information that we’ve generated from our investigation, which is based off postings on Facebook and interviewing relatives in person and by phone, is she could possibly be with a male friend who’s approximately 19 years old. As of right now, it appears she left voluntarily, which is very disheartening to that family.”
Brown said the Sheriff’s Office sent information about the missing girl to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which alerts law enforcement agencies across the country to be on the lookout for her.
“We will continue our investigation on this,” he said today (Nov. 15).
Marie is about 5-foot-5-inches tall and weighs about 125 pounds. She has blond hair and green eyes, Brown said.
She had been homeschooled, he said.
Anyone with information about Marie is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
